Teeming with energy and bursting with fun-lovin’ brilliance, DENIO return with their latest single- ‘Golden…’

For a group of lads who shared their school days, DENIO sure aren’t doing bad for themselves. The Liverpool quartet may have only been around since last November, but already they have earned the respect of local and national tastemakers alike, including BBC Radio Merseyside and Amazing Radio. The lads are being hailed as the new indie kids on the block with a sound that ‘‘no longer belongs in the backrooms of their homes.’’

Consisting of Mike Davies (vocals), Bill Caple (drums), and brothers Andres (guitar) and Daniel (keys) Hernandez, DENIO have drawn comparisons with Talking Heads, Foals and Arcade Fire. But whilst they are by no means trendsetters, neither are they unexciting. Their third and latest single ‘Golden,’ released back in August, is a crisp and colourful indie-pop track with the delightful ability to impress. Having teamed-up with producer Robert Whiteley (The Wombats), the Liverpool-lads have pulled off a single teeming with energy and beaming with fun-lovin’ brilliance, combining jangly guitar riffs with vintage synths in a funky and soulful fusion. Lyrically the track confronts themes of regret, but much of its beauty comes from this contrast between the lyrical and musical. Though DENIO are a band with a whole host of influences- from metal, pop to jazz- a listener comes away feeling that this band knows how to write a catchy guitar tune.
